The HSE card stores information about the employer and the employee.

To order a HSE card the company and the employee must be listed in several registers. In this way, the card regulation helps prevent illicit work, social dumping, illegal immigration etc.

It also helps the building, construction and cleaning sector, as it prevents illegal businesses from gaining a competitive advantage.

When do you have to renew the card?

The cards are valid for two years. The expiry date is printed on your card.

The card must be renewed prior to the expiry date. If a HSE card has expired the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority can deny employees the right to work.

Companies will be fined for expired or invalid cards, and serious infringements could be reported to the police, and result in a prison sentence.

As long as the required registrations are completed and you send the necessary documentation, we will deliver a new HSE card within two weeks of your order. Ensure that you contact us at least two weeks prior to the expiry date to confirm your renewal.

Why do you have to renew your card?

To order HSE cards both employers and employees must meet certain conditions.

The employee must be registered in the National Population Register or with the Central Office for Foreign Tax Affairs, and must have a personal identification number or D-number.

The employment must be registered in the NAV State Register of Employers and Employees, or with the Central Office for Foreign Tax Affairs if the employee is a foreign worker.

The company must be registered in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities and in the VAT register. Cleaning companies also require authorization from the Labour Inspection Authority to operate in Norway.

When the cards are renewed, the provider ensures that the employee and the employer still meet these conditions. The HSE card requirement therefore helps ensure safe and legal working conditions.

How do you renew the HSE card?

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to renew your card.

If you have previously ordered HSE cards from us, you’ll receive an automatic email reminder 60 days prior to the expiry date. If we do not hear from you, we will send you a letter in the mail 45 days before your card expires.

We only require a written or verbal confirmation from you in order to renew your card.

Usually you do not need to resend any documentation. We will arrange for a new card to be sent to you within two weeks of your confirmation.
